Bell TV 6400 High Definition Receiver

Installation of the Bell 6400 HD (HIgh Definition) Digital satellite receiver began today. 
The receiver features an updated on-screen program guide.  The receiver comes with a black infrared (IR) remote, which has the same features as Bell's IR grey remote with one difference. The ITV (Interactive tv) button has been replaced with a Movies button which will take the operator directly to the Movie Themes on-screen selection.   Specifications:

Bell TV Dual Tuner Remotes, Green and Blue Tabs

To set you your Bell TV (satellite) Dual Tuner Receiver Remotes we advise that you assign a unique remote address number to each remote.  To do this.  Remote 1 (Green bottom tab) should be left as is.  This remote is an Infra Red remote should be used to control your main receiver and tv.

The second remote which has a Blue Tab is a UHF Pro (Ultra High Frequency Pro) model and should be used to control a secondary tv set, which is located in another room of your home.

By assigning each remote a different remote address enables the remotes to work independently preventing actions with one remote to affect both televisions.

To Change the Remote Address for Remote Control 2 (Blue Tab)

Press System Info button on the receiver's front panel
Make a note of the current remote address, as shown on screen

Via  the remote 

1. Press and Hold the SAT button
2. When all the MODE buttons (Sat, TV, PVR, AUX) light up,  LET GO
3. Enter a new remote address number ( 1 - 16) via the number pad
4. Press the # Key (bottom right) 
5. MODE light SAT will flash 3 times
6. Note down the new remote address number
7. Press RECORD 

Check the number on screen matches your new remote address number

Press SELECT to exit the System Info Screen

NOTE:

It is possible to change the remote address for Remote Control 1 (Green Tab) using this method also.

Bell TV Remotes

Infrared Remote
The Bell TV infrared (IR) remote needs direct line of sight to the satellite tv receiver to function.  The remote operates by transmitting line of sight signals short distances (up to 40 ft).


The infrared remote is the standard remote that is supplied with a standard  Digital Receiver or HD Receiver. The remote can also be used to control tv, vcr or dvd, plus a third device.



UHF Remote
A Bell TV UHF (Ultra High Frequency) remote does not need direct line of sight to the satellite tv receiver.  The remote operates using radio frequencies to send the signal through walls and floors (up to 120 ft).  Thus allowing greater flexibility regarding placement of the receiver and control of the receiver from greater distances and control of the receiver from other rooms within the home.  

One IR remote, one UHF remote and UHF antenna (to be attached to the receiver rear panel) are supplied with the and the HD PVR Plus receiver.

The UHF remotes supplied by Bell TV also have infrared incorporated -  so that  it is possible to control three other non uhf capable devices (tv, dvd or  vcr plus a third device)  - plus a TV input selection button.

CES 2011 - 5 Top Trends

The CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2011, which was held in Las Vegas, is a showcase for the manufacturers to announce, display and demonstrate the latest in electronics.  Some products were distributed prior to the show for testing, some products are still being assembled and some products already have been surpassed.  Our pick for Top Five Trends for 2011 :

1. Pads, Readers, Palms and Tablets
This market is growing, competition is fierce - useful apps, processing speed and media functions will determine the winner.  Multi functionality is one consumer demand manufactures dare not ignore. Ahead of the pack at CES 2011 - BlackBerry Playbook.  Loaded with business apps it is sure to be a success with business managers and office workers in companies of all sizes.  Dual Core processors provide ample multi function capacity. The BlackBerry Playbook also displays flash and runs full desktop versions of programs.



2. Smart Phones for Gamers
Many mobile phones have touch screen controls, so taking a cue from the PS3 Phone (the Sony Playstation Phone) expect to see slide out game controls in place of slide out alpha numeric key pads.

3.  Mini Projectors
In response to consumer demands that their smartphone do more, both RIM and Apple are offering mini projectors. Speculation strongly suggests that  iPhone5 will include a Pico  projector. The Rim BlackBerry Presenter is to be offered as an accessory for BlackBerry smart phones, using Bluetooth technology once connected to a monitor or projector.  Of course stand alone mini projectors are being developed by other companies too.

CES 2011 saw the debut of the ElectroHub which requires a special battery to be used in place of the devices own.

5. 3D and Multi Media
Imagine your TV displaying 3D images, now image it using 2D input and converting it to 3D output, then add the capabilitiy to download apps.  ON a smaller scale the new Sony Vaio F series laptop converts 2D to 3D on the fly too.  Gamers haven't been left behind either - Nintendo 3DS renders 3D without the need for special glasses.

Program a Bell remote to your TV

One of the most common questions is how to program a Bell remote to control the TV, if you don't know what your TV Code is.  Here's how to do it:

• Turn on the TV
• Press and hold the TV button 
• Hold it until the buttons - SAT, TV and VCR all light up
• Release the TV button -  This will cause it to flash.
• Press the POWER button - The TV button light will stay on.
• Press the up arrow, every second (on the Bell remote) 
• Your TV will turn off to indicate a working code has been found.
• Now Press the # button -  this will save the code to the remote
• The TV light on your Bell remote will flash 3 times to confirm that programming has been successful.
