Bell introduce the 9241 1TB HD PVR satellite receiver


The new model Bell TV satellite receiver the 9241+ features a 1 TB hard drive and the new on screen guide, this model will be available to rental customers with effect 1st July 2013.  

Recording capacity: 150 hours, high definition, and 500 hours of standard definition programming.

Comedy Channel and CTV News now in HD on Bell TV

Two new HD (High Definition) Channels appeared on Bell TV today:

Comedy HD - Satellite Channel 1740
CTV News - Satellite Channel 1562N and Fibe TV Channel 1501

Both channels are being broadcast from Nimiq 6 at 91 degrees.

Nimiq 6 launch 17 May 2012 19:12 GMT

Nimiq 6 the 18th Telesat  Spacecraft to be launched.  The launch is scheduled for 
17th May 2012 at 19:12 GMT at the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan, (Launch Pad 24) aboard a Proton Breeze M Rocket.  The Satellite will be separated 9 Hours and 14 Minutes after liftoff.

The Nimiq 6 communication satellite was built by Space Systems/Loral and will be operated by Telesat.
The satellite has 32 High  Powered Ku-Band Transponders and has been designed specifically for the expansion of (HD) High Definition Television services.  Nimiq 6 will exclusively deliver satellite signals direct to home for Bell TV subscribers across Canada.

Once the satellite has reached Geostationary Transfer Orbit it will use it's own propulsion system to maintain it's Geostationary Orbital Position (91.1 Degrees West longitude). 

Webcast of the Nimiq 6 Launch will be available on the 17th May 2012 approximately 30 minutes before liftoff.

Bell TV 6400 High Definition Receiver

Installation of the Bell 6400 HD (HIgh Definition) Digital satellite receiver began today. 
The receiver features an updated on-screen program guide.  The receiver comes with a black infrared (IR) remote, which has the same features as Bell's IR grey remote with one difference. The ITV (Interactive tv) button has been replaced with a Movies button which will take the operator directly to the Movie Themes on-screen selection.   Specifications:

Bravo HD on Bell TV

Bravo HD was launched today on  Bell TV (Satellite)

The new channel BRAVOH,  channel 1734, joins Bell TV's already extensive line up of High definition channels.  Bravo HD is a simulcast of BRAVO programming taht is shown on channel 620.  Programming on Bravo HD (High Definition) features films, general entertainment and made for tv dramas.

Discovery HD Channel,  is now available in Canada in High Definition. Bell TV (satellite) broadcast Discovery HD on channel 1602 effective 18 August 2011,  The new channel is available as part of Bell TV's HD Variety package.

3D TV

Although 3D is not a new idea it is now possible to buy 3D capable television sets.  Bell TV are broadcasting some movies in 3D and throughout January and February 2011every Tuesday after 6pm.


To view the programs you need a 3D TV, 3D glasses and a MPEG4 receiver (HD PVR Plus  - Model 9241 or 9242).


Currently channels  1933 Bell Satellite TV or 1208 Bell Fibe TV (3D-Vu) both showcase 3D programming.

HD PVR recording capabilities


The HD PVR  is a High Definition Personal Video Recorder.  Many people think this Bell TV receiver only records programs that are being transmitted in high definition.  In fact the receiver can record both digital and high definition programs. 


Current models can hold 200 hours of digital OR 30 hours of high definition recordings on the internal hard drive.
